Acts of Worship

Sitting at the local not-so-local coffee shop near my home near Atlanta in the small town of Covington, Ga, there is a sizeable gathering of spectators attempting to get a glimpse of what they perceive as American Royalty. Actors for the past century have enamored the minds of the masses of this country and not soon after the world over. Hollywood or as the not so beguiled minority population denotes it “Hollyweird” has become “the quintessential essence of idolatry” says Romel X Rose. A veteran in the film industry with 8 films under his own belt, he sees that the worship of stone from the days of Abraham has mutated into the worship of man today. What is it about acting or actors that make people see these very normal or abnormal in some cases, people as gods besides the only True and Living God?

In Minister Louis Farrakhan’s latest global address “The Swan Song” delivered on February 27th, 2022 from Mosque Maryam in Chicago, Il, the Minister speaks on his trial as a new believer within the Nation of Islam. Prior to accepting the great Teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Minister Farrakhan then known as Louis Walcott was a calypso singer and actor. When he entered the ranks and transferred the discipline it took to master his skills as an entertainer, he swiftly garnered the love and affection of his fellow Believers and the Lost-Found. With that love came envy and jealousy from those that perceived his captivating delivery of the word of Allah as a mere portrayal of a new character, he fought against that hatred and stayed the course. He studied night and day for nine arduous years until the day came that his leader and teacher told him he no longer needed to write out his lectures that he would deliver. But to take a subject and few scriptures and then go to the people and let the spirit of Allah come through him, and so he has ever since. He stated to the listening audience that maybe we should all “act” more like him. As an actress and edutainer that hit my breast in such a way that most may not understand. Throughout my relationships in life, I have always been troubled by the idea that people may not believe the intensity of my spirit because I am an actress. It was once told to me even from one that I was in a personal relationship with. What most fail to realize is that to be a great actor, you don’t pretend or make-believe in what you are portraying. With every ounce of you, you must be convicted to the point that you become the very thing you are delivering. So, to act more like the Minister denoted to me that we should embody his spirit, breathe in the life force that moves him which is the same life force that is already in us that we must submit to.

The uncivilized people; poison animal eaters; slaves from mental death and power; people who do not know the Living God or their origin in this world, and they worship that they know not what-who are easily led in the wrong direction, but hard to lead into the right direction.
